Visas

There are 187 types of US visas, and each one serves a different purpose. For Brazilian citizens, the only way to enter the US is through a visa. What is the purpose of the visa you are looking for?

    Tourist or business visa

    This visa is required for individuals to visit the USA when:

    • Interested in business or tourism trips.
    • Validity: 10 years, but the stay in the country is determined by immigration.
    • They allow the holder to enter and leave the US as often as they wish during the validity period.
    • It doesn't give you the right to work.

    Student visa

    It is the ideal visa for non-immigrants who wish to study in the United States.

    • The foreigner can study legally in the United States during the period he/she is enrolled and following the regulations of the visa and the academic institution itself.
    • You have the possibility to bring your immediate family (spouse and children under the age of 21) on a student visa dependent visa. But they, as well as the main applicant, cannot work during the period they are in the country.
    • Dependents may remain in the US for the duration of the student visa.

    It is the visa for people who want to exercise remunerated activity in the USA. There are different categories of work visas, and these are classified according to the area of ​​activity, time of professional experience and academic background.

    • H1-B

      This is a work permit due to “Specialized Function”, it is used to transfer a foreign employee temporarily. In these cases, the spouse can be taken to the country, but he/she will not be able to work and the children will not be able to study in an American school.

    • L1-A

      Aimed at the internal and, in principle, temporary transfer of executives and/or managers of the multinational company, to assume a similar position in the American company, subsidiary, or branch, in order to manage its business in the USA. The intention and decision comes from the company, not from the employee, and therefore, it is not to be confused with the American work visa.

    • EB-1

      For professionals who have achieved high prominence in their fields of activity. Known as a visa for “professionals with extraordinary abilities”, it can be granted, for example, to winners of international awards such as Oscar, Nobel, Olympic medals, among others. The EB-1 visa is also available to professionals with other profiles who are able to prove, through documents, their recognition and prominence in the professional area.

    • EB-2

      The EB-2 visa is a US immigrant visa aimed at professionals with special or exceptional skills. To qualify in this category, a foreign national must demonstrate a significantly higher level of specialization than would normally be found in the areas of Science, Arts or Business.

    • *NIW

      The foreign person who qualifies for an EB-2 visa may apply for a waiver of the job offer and Labor Certification if he can prove that his professional skill will be of great benefit to the United States. This category of EB-2 is called the National Interest Waiver (EB-2 NIW).

    • O-1

      It is a non-immigrant visa that allows professionals with extraordinary abilities in the sciences, arts, education, business or athletics, and who wish to work temporarily in the United States in their field, to remain in the country, initially, for a period of three years. , which may be extended for periods of one year, or until the project is completed.

    Investment

    It is the visa for people who want to open a business and live in the USA. It can be divided into two big categories:

    • EB-5

      EB-5 is a US government program that allows foreign investors to obtain US residency through a minimum investment of $1,000,000.00 million in new ventures that create ten qualified jobs per investor.

    • E-2

      The E2 visa, also known as the investor visa, allows foreigners of certain nationalities to live and work in the United States through a qualified investment.

    Fiance visa (K-1)

    Intended for the person who is engaged to an American citizen, and has personally known the partner for at least 2 years and will travel with the purpose of getting married and living in the country.

    Specific Skills Visa (EB-2)

Citizenship

There are a few ways to obtain US citizenship through the naturalization process:
